Michelle's Prompt: One of many prompts where Michelle struggles to get out of bed. This one was something like "Please, sun, can I have a few more minutes..."
Adam's Poem:
Please, Golden Sun. Please do not rise.
I’m not quite prepared yet to open my eyes.
Please let me sleep just a few minutes more.
Hold back the light, Mr. Sun, I implore.
I am the sun. I am so great.
I never come early, I never stay late.
I send forth my light to everyone.
I'm super and awesome. I am the sun.
Yes, I love you. Everyone does.
It's not just the light but also because
You're warm and you're golden and ever so yellow.
Everyone thinks you're a wonderful fellow.
But all I am asking for - hear me, Sun, please -
Is a few more minutes and a few more Zs.
I am the sun. I am a god.
I spoil the child if I spare him the rod.
Did I say I was awesome? I'm number one.
I'm everyone's friend. I am the sun.
With all due respect, that's not good debate.
You can't just keep saying you're awesome and great.
It fails to address my need for more slumber,
An easy request that will hardly encumber.
I am the sun. I give warmth and light.
To the sheep and the shepherd, the sparrows in flight…
Forget the sparrows! Forget the sheep!
I only require a little more sleep!
I am the sun. I filleth your cup.
I shine on the mountains I—
Whatever. I'm up.
